The Pierre Rural Family Medicine Residency is looking for an Associate Director/Local Site Director to join our faculty and shape the next generation of physicians.
The Pierre Rural Family Medicine Residency program is a full-spectrum, 2-2-2, rural residency program located in central South Dakota, that will be graduating its first class in 2021. Residents spend PGY1 in Sioux Falls on those rotations best occurring in a high tech/high volume setting, then complete PGY2 and PGY3 in Pierre, a community of 14,000 with a sole community provider hospital. The Associate Director is responsible for precepting and advising the rural residents, maintaining the integrity of the curriculum at the rural site, coordinating educational activities between multiple clinical and administrative stakeholders in the two health systems with local presence. This position requires independent initiative and offers a significant amount of autonomy, yet has available solid support and significant resources. The successful applicant will work closely with the Program Director and other core faculty members located in Sioux Falls as well as Pierre community family physicians who serve as preceptors for clinic and specialists with whom the residents complete their rotations. Clinical responsibilities are primarily outpatient, with some inpatient responsibilities and the option to provide maternity/obstetrical care. Competitive salary and benefits.
Pierre is an outdoors paradise: hunting and fishing opportunities abound. As the state capital of South Dakota, the local economy is stable and entertainment and dining opportunities exceed those of similarly sized communities (https://pierre.org/).
